This figure is a diagram showing which colors the different
systems can reproduce. The big white circle corresponds to all the
colors of the nature. The two (green and magenta) ellipses to the
colors you can get with the RGB system and with oil paintings. The
small blue circle corresponds to the colors of the CMYB system.
You see immediatly that, nowadays, the most efficient systems
are the RGB and the pigments systems. From the viewpoint of the
colors, they can be considered as equivalent, but the superiority
of the RGB system is due to the fact that its a more luminous
system. In other words it can reproduce more values (from dark to
light) than the pigments system.
