Yellowing of Oil Mediums No.2
Yellowing of Oil Mediums No.2
This trial was made one year later, at the end of 1989 on the
same paper.
It confirms the absolute necessity, for a painter who wishes to
paint permanently, of testing himself his materials.
Its interessant too to see that a serious manufacturer
ameliorates his products in the course of the years (tests 3 &
4).
An alkyd medium from manufacturer B. Its the
same alkyd medium as was tested a year before see previous
trial, 3. Alk. med. No.2.
4. Alk. med. No.4:
The same alkyd medium from manufacturer B, but from
a new bottle. Obviously the maker has modified the composition of
his product: the odor is not the same any longer and the yellowing
is less marked.
5. Mastic med.:
A painting medium containing Mastic (an elastic resin coming
from a tree) and boiled linseed oil from manufacturer
C.
6. Gl. med. No.1:
A painting medium for glazes, containing stand oil, from the
same manufacturer C.
7. Gl. med. No.2:
The same painting medium for glazes from manufacturer
A as in the previous test.
8. Copal med.:
The same painting medium containing Copal as in the previous
test from manufacturer C.
