Alizarine and PY128
This is a trial of 2001. The first two samples show that
Alizarine has decidedly faded in sunlight.
I draw your attention to the third sample, which is a test of
the medium. This is something very important: you always
have to test the medium used for your trial, because it can
change with the exposure too. Here you see that the upper half of
the sample, which was hold in the dark, has yellowed a little.
Now look at the last three samples, PY128. The one on the right
(the last one) seems to have faded in the sun. But in reality this
is not the case, what is demonstrated by the one on the left with
an acrylic medium, which hasnt faded at all. The apparent
fading of the last sample is due to the action of the sun on the
medium (the same alkyd medium as in the third sample).
